Unfolding through Time is an Interactive wall installation showcasing CCA Fashion Show.
The goal for this project is to create an interactive wall that showcases the past 5 years of the CCA fashion show. Today fashion can be thought as a moving 3D sculpture. We drew our inspiration from designers such as Alexander Mcqueen to create our 3D wall. The stitched tessellation alludes to traditional sewing while the technology used to make these structures represents the present.
We created the 3D model of the wall installation that was inspired by patterns used to create dresses. We laser-cut the pieces, folded them into 3D forms and glued them together. The process was like playing puzzles; we have to mark all the pieces to make sure they go into the right position. After that we used Processing to create projection mapping on the structure. Kinect captures the position of user’s hand to control and navigate through the information on the structure.
